About NCWEB

NCWEB (Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board) is a constituent unit of the University of Delhi. This institution provides special arrangements for women residing in the National Capital Territory of Delhi to enroll themselves as students of the board without attending regular classes. In this system, the girl students attend classes during Saturday/Sunday and academic breaks across twenty-six Centers , Maitreyi College is one of them, being run in the constituent colleges of the University of Delhi. NCWEB came into existence in 1943 through an amendment of the Delhi University Act and it started functioning in 1944. It has the following goals:

  • Empower first-generation women learners.
  • Foster holistic personal development.
  • Promote social change through education and skill training.
  • Enhance women's employability.
  • Build a more egalitarian society.
  • Provide sustainable education.
  • Maximize existing infrastructure use.

· In essence, the NCWEB's mission is to educate women and, by extension, educate generations, empowering women to become leaders of equality and development while increasing their employability and benefiting the nation.

NCWEB at Maitreyi College

Maitreyi College is a well-established undergraduate center of NCWEB in which female students residing in Delhi, NCT are admitted. NCWEB was initiated at Maitreyi College in the early 1990s. Currently, more than 1200 students are enrolled in B.A. Program and B.Com. Program of the University of Delhi. Maitreyi College Centre is called a Sunday Centre as classes are held on Sundays and on some weekdays when teaching in the regular college is off. Timings are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a break for lunch in between the classes.
