To nurture the skills and talents of the students, the department organises co-curricular activities in addition to academic ones. Along with lectures, interactive sessions, and workshops, Dhiti, the English Literary Association, is instrumental in organising the annual department literary festival, Ekphrasis, comprising student seminars, plays, stand-up comedy acts, art competitions, film screenings, etc. The co-curricular activities are facilitated through the existing clubs which are open to all members of the department as it provides everyone the opportunity to engage in research questions and open spaces for further exploration. These are the Book Club and Dead Poets' Society - which are managed by the students with the help of a faculty advisor, who mentors the students to discover their potential and utilise it to the optimum. The Annual Lecture organised by the department allows the members to interact with eminent academics and get a glimpse of intellectually charged academic debates and discourses. Dialectic, the annual department newsletter, gives them the space to creatively express themselves on a theme of their choice and explore their academic interests. With a vision to promote inclusivity and dynamism, the department proactively organises activities and events to encourage student participation. To foster the spirit of social inclusion and to create a foundation for emotional intelligence, the department organised an educational trip to the Blind Relief Association and also took the initiatives to create awareness about mental health by writing letters to those struggling with depression and anxiety. In light of this motto, the department has organised career counselling sessions, workshops on publishing and provided the students a platform to write research papers. The focus of the department is to provide the students with a stimulating and academically challenging space and hone their skills for future opportunities.
