Vachik, meaning verbaliser, is the Hindi Debating Society of Maitreyi College. 'Vachik' - is one of the renowned societies in the debating circuit.
Our participation is not limited to the inter-college level, in fact we are actively involved in the activities conducted by different ministries and organisations, outside the University. The range of competitions and activities covered by us is huge as it includes seminars, workshops, speech, extempore, creative writing and narrating, open mics, conventional debate, Parliamentary debate, Indian Committees etc. At Vachik, we believe in teaching the right approach to anything, be it the topics or life. As debaters, we learn the expression of thoughts and analysis according to the need. We enthusiastically discuss different ideas and events. This ensures that we grow together as better human beings. We at Vachik teach our students about the art of argumentation, where students learn to speak backed with logic and knowledge
We believe that Debating societies are the intellectual hubs of a college, hence it becomes extremely crucial to make our members knowledgeable and to teach them the art of argumentation. For achieving this goal, we provide study sessions for all the domains leading from Indian Mythology to Current world Politics, from Ancient History to Modern Philosophy, from Vedas to Economics and much more.
We also conduct Mock sessions where our members learn to counter arguments backed by logic and knowledge. And a weekly study session is conducted on any of the domains in order to enhance knowledge of our members.
We organise 'DRISHTIKON' as our annual Debate competition under Rhapsody. Along with it, 'Vani' is our annual Fresher's Parliamentary Debate Tournament.We conduct debating events regularly which includes Extempore,Speech Competition,Conventional Debate, Creative Writing Competitions, Open Mic, etc throughout the year.
